What I learned from visiting boring b2b manufacturing businesses?

1. Web Standard

No one teaches manufacturing companies about website standards. They still have the old website standards that were used in 2007.  I believe if someone reached them and talks about new standards and opportunities, they will be happy to invest.

2. Foreign Videos and Image

Website designers often take images from royalty free sites like pexels that generally have foreign worker images. Being an Indian manufacturer and having a foreign worker photo doesn’t make sense.

It also creates questions in buyers’ minds if the company is real and ends up having less authority.

As per my research, Less than 1% of companies have original videos and less than 5% have real images on their site.

As the images from sites like Pexels are copied by many brands and designers throughout the world, google considers it low authority content and gives less authority.  From an SEO point of view, Original content is a major ranking factor on Google Businesses must use their original image, or at least images from their region.

Key: Having original images also increases trust in the company more than having random images.  Checkout MixCommerce Photos

Opportunity: I have been observing this and we are building a free-to-use website from where businesses or designers can download images for free.

3. Copied Text Content

As manufacturers supply similar material to the industry, they often end up copying the content from other websites and giving to the web developer. Due to copied content, they lose the authority in google’s eye and end up ranking lower and losing the opportunity to bring traffic and any real traction.

4. Boring community and marketing

Boring industries, ie: electronics manufacturing, electrical manufacturing, plastic bottle manufacturing, Wood, metal, and Pipes, have an industry community, in which if present, can get good opportunities.

As these websites often have less to 0 traffic, they do not appear on competitor maps.

ie: SEMRUSH competition map

The opportunity

One can reach out and explain to them the potential to have the latest technology, designs, and traffic.

How to make a business out of this industry?

  1. Go to these industry trade shows (Industry={Electronic, Electrical, Manufacturing}, State={Karnataka, Tamilnadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh}) and collect all the details of the stall presenters.
  2. Meet as many people as you can at the expo, take their business card
  3. Come back home, categories in “irrelevant”, “interesting”, “opportunity”
  4. Start calling for the opportunity and discuss
  5. In case you didn’t get any opportunity, try meeting found “interesting” category founders

Tip: Try to leave a unique impression while you talk them, and in case you find them valuable, write the action on the business card. This will help your prospect remember you and discuss further.

I use the following design to write a call to action. As pointed out in the image, I write an action to take and then give them my card. This reminds them to contact me and discuss this further. Just by adding this, the strength of the business card becomes stronger and reminds the client to talk you.

Here is how this can be executed on a scale using machine learning.

1. Target the community and sell in bulk (Soft way preferred)

All these manufacturing industries have their own industry community and regional community. You should talk to them to find out their names. Reach out to the community on the meeting day (happen to whether monthly or quarterly) and build good connections. dd value and present the solution to a stage.

  1. Get the list from the community, create an SEO, and web performance report on the scale, and present them in the next meeting.
  2. Give them a price, talk to them and if they didn’t convert then give them a combo offer.
Example: If 20 people consider getting their online business presented I will charge 60,000 than 1,00,000 per site. This will bring good business and volume without taking extra effort or expenses.

2. Scale using Technology and outreach (mostly cold outreach)

  1. Target all the websites, Take screenshots, classify using machine learning and talk to the CEO, show industry opportunities and take over and convert. Do physical visits if needed to make the sales, there will be enough opportunity. If you have any option to filter the company based on revenue, you can do that as well.
